Diego Pérez

Mexico (1975)

Within his interdisciplinary practice, the work by Diego Pérez has to main thematic lines: one involves site-specific projects which tend to involve certain social interaction; and another one of pieces made in his studio with which he explores the use of materials, movement and space. His site-specific work begins with a research on the subjective reality that can be found within defined social contexts and their stories, and then he experiments with solutions that offer alternative ways of coexistence, of uses of the space and current media. His studio work is more intimate and meditative, although it has a ludic quality in which a denial of the material’s own movement and the coexistence between it’s different components is perceived.

His work is part of contemporary art collections Jumex Collection, Televisa Foundation, the University Museum of Contemporary Art MUAC and the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection.
